Euphony VI 01:01:18

about

The final work in the "Euphony" sequence. For this last piece, I used a "synthetic" scale to complement the "synthetic" chordality of the fifth installment. The "octatonic" scale, championed by Rimsky-Korsakov and later put to use in jazz, provides a dark, eerie feel, so as the composition progressed it became apparent that it was coming to possess a cinematic, "slasher-movie"-esque sensibility. So that's what I ran with here. So, going from the basic theoretical explorations of the first few works in this set, we now arrive at something that has a distinctly utilitarian result, perfectly suited for creepy filmic concepts.
